Studio Bednarski appointed to design a Rail Bridge for pedestrians and cyclists at Kensal Canalside Following an introduction by RBKC Supply Chain Project, Studio Bednarski has been appointed by the developers Ballymore for a stage 1 concept design for the Rail Pedestrian Bridge at Kensal Canalside along with Buro Happold (structural engineers). The intention is to bring forward the pedestrian bridge to stage 1 concept with a view to submitting a standalone planning application alongside the main master plan. Studio Bednarski Architects are based in the borough and the principal, Cezary Bednarski, is an award winning international bridge designer.
Kensal Canalside is the largest brownfield site in the borough (38 acres) and one of the Mayor’s London Opportunity Areas. There is an opportunity to transform this area into a high quality well connected, attractive and sustainable Canalside neighbourhood for people to live and work in and visit. Some 3,500 new homes are planned and 10,000 m² of offices together with a new relocated Sainsbury’s superstore.
